Jill Reeves is the current Chairman of Essex County Council
She has been a County Councillor since 1985 and is the longest serving County Councillor at ECC. She initially represented the Benfleet Division, in Castle Point for 20 years, then due to boundary changes, has been the Member for the Hadleigh Division since 2005.
She has always been interested on the Social Services side of things at ECC and served on many committees in this arena with their various name changes. She chaired the Health, Overview, Policy & Scrutiny Committee and was the Chairman of the Scrutiny Board, overseeing the work of the four scrutiny committees. She is currently one of the members who represent ECC on the London Southend Airport Consultative Committee.
Unlike many of her County colleagues, she has never been a member of her local council. Prior to becoming a County Councillor, she worked in the fashion business for many years. Cllr Reeves has been married to her husband Richard for 43 years.
