Fry Art Gallery
The Fry Art Gallery received a grant of £1,000 towards the cost of a watercolour entitled “Airplant” by Edward Bawden, painted c. 1986 in his studio in Park Lane, Saffron Walden towards the end of his life when he was no longer able to get about.
The painting shows the brick wall inside his studio together with the Airplant and his studio clock, both on the wall and reflected in a mirror. This is very typical of his work at that time and recalls his studio, for which the architectural drawings are housed in the Fry Art Gallery.
